Bestie Bite Raises $1.75 Million to Bring AI-Powered Restaurant Discovery and Marketing to the U.S. Market

Restaurant operators have spent the better part of a decade trying to keep up with a constantly shifting digital marketing landscape. First came websites and email marketing. Then online reviews. Then social media. Now, as consumers increasingly discover restaurants through short-form video and AI-powered recommendations, a new generation of technology vendors is emerging to help operators compete for attention.

One of the latest entrants is Italy-based startup Bestie Bite, which recently raised approximately $1.75 million (€1.5 million) in new funding to accelerate its expansion into the United States. The investment brings total funding to approximately $2.57 million (€2.2 million), less than four months after the company completed an earlier funding round of approximately $820,000 (€700,000) led by Techstars.

Founded in 2024 by Carlotta Robbe Di Lorenzo and Caterina Vertefeuille, Bestie Bite is attempting to tackle two increasingly interconnected challenges. Consumers often struggle to separate authentic restaurant recommendations from sponsored content, influencer promotions and questionable online reviews, while restaurant operators face growing pressure to create a steady stream of engaging digital content without adding headcount or agency costs.

The company’s platform combines restaurant discovery with AI-powered marketing automation. Consumers discover restaurants, bars and hotels through short-form videos uploaded by real users, while operators gain access to tools designed to transform that content into ongoing marketing campaigns. The company says its platform currently supports more than 100,000 users, has accumulated more than 120,000 uploaded videos and has established a presence in more than 80 countries.

The timing is notable because restaurant discovery itself is changing rapidly. While traditional review platforms such as Yelp, Tripadvisor and OpenTable continue to play important roles in the consumer decision-making process, younger diners increasingly turn to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube when deciding where to eat. For many consumers, a 30-second video of a menu item or dining room experience carries more weight than dozens of written reviews.

That shift creates both opportunity and complexity for restaurant operators. Video content tends to generate higher engagement than static images or text, but producing high-quality content consistently can be expensive and time-consuming. Independent restaurants and small chains often lack dedicated marketing teams, leaving operators to manage social media themselves or hire outside agencies.

Bestie Bite’s answer is what it describes as an AI-powered marketing employee. Using authentic customer-generated videos as source material, the platform automatically generates editorial calendars, creates social media content and publishes campaigns across digital channels. The company also provides sentiment analysis and customer feedback monitoring designed to help operators identify service issues, emerging trends and guest satisfaction concerns.

The approach reflects a broader trend taking shape across restaurant technology. Rather than simply providing tools that help marketers work faster, vendors are increasingly building systems designed to automate entire workflows. Marketing has become one of the most active areas of AI innovation because it combines large volumes of content creation, repetitive tasks and measurable performance metrics.

The competitive landscape is becoming increasingly crowded. On the restaurant discovery side, Bestie Bite faces established platforms including Yelp, Tripadvisor and OpenTable, as well as social media giants that have become de facto restaurant search engines for younger consumers. On the marketing side, the company competes with a growing list of restaurant technology providers that have incorporated AI into their platforms, including Owner.com, Popmenu and Toast, all of which have expanded their marketing automation and content generation capabilities over the past several years.

Bestie Bite’s differentiation lies in its effort to connect discovery and marketing within a single ecosystem. Rather than asking operators to create content from scratch, the platform leverages authentic customer experiences as the foundation for marketing campaigns. The company also places significant emphasis on authenticity through fraud detection, content verification and AI-powered validation technologies designed to reduce fake reviews and misleading content.

That focus on authenticity could prove increasingly valuable. As generative AI makes it easier to create synthetic content at scale, consumers are becoming more skeptical of online recommendations. Restaurant operators face a similar challenge as they try to build trust while competing against sponsored content, influencer campaigns and increasingly sophisticated digital advertising.

The startup’s U.S. expansion reflects the size of the opportunity. The company has established a presence in San Francisco and says it has already secured partnerships with local operators including Tony’s Pizza and North Beach Restaurant. According to Bestie Bite, users have generated reviews covering more than 500 restaurants in the market, providing an early foundation for broader growth.

The American restaurant technology market remains one of the most competitive and well-funded sectors in hospitality. Operators continue to invest heavily in customer acquisition, reputation management and digital marketing, while technology vendors race to demonstrate measurable returns on those investments. In that environment, success will likely depend less on AI itself and more on whether platforms can deliver lower marketing costs, stronger customer engagement and increased traffic.

For Bestie Bite, the challenge now shifts from proving the concept to proving scalability. The company has demonstrated early traction, secured fresh capital and entered one of the world’s largest restaurant markets. Whether it can successfully compete against both established restaurant discovery platforms and a growing field of AI-powered marketing providers remains to be seen.

What is clear is that the lines separating restaurant discovery, social media, customer-generated content and marketing automation continue to blur. As operators search for more efficient ways to attract guests and build digital visibility, platforms that can transform authentic customer experiences into scalable marketing assets are likely to attract increasing attention from both investors and restaurant brands.
